Pune: The Pimpri municipal veterinary department has uncovered financial irregularities involving the organization Delhiwala and Sons, responsible for the collection and cremation of dead animals in the city.

An investigation revealed that the organization manipulated work receipts, resulting in a financial loss of ₹1,22,000. As a result, Delhiwala and Sons has been blacklisted, and legal action is set to be taken against its operators.

Dead animals are buried in open spaces away from residential areas. Cremation was taking place at the J Block in Gawlimatha, Bhosari, MIDC. During this period, the land designated for burying the animals was transferred to MIDC.

Following this, with the approval of the Pune Municipal Corporation, cremation of the city’s animals began at the cremation machine at Naidu Pond.

A fee of ₹3,000 was charged for each large dead animal. This amount was paid to the Pune Municipal Corporation through Delhiwala and Sons. The receipts for the cremation fees were submitted to the veterinary department.

Advocate Manish Kamble lodged a complaint with the municipal corporation regarding this issue. In response, the cremation fee receipts were examined.

According to the report received from the health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation, it was found that Delhiwala and Sons had tampered with the receipts.

A discrepancy of ₹1,22,000 was clearly evident between the receipts submitted by the organization and those from the Pune Municipal Corporation for cremation fees.

Following this, with the approval of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Delhiwala and Sons has been blacklisted. Furthermore, a case will be filed against the operators of the organization.

Delhiwala and Sons was issued three notices. As the organization did not provide a satisfactory explanation, the veterinary department, headed by Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Khot, stated that their operations have been halted and their name has been added to the blacklist.
