Pune: In a recent meeting of the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) Financial Committee, approvals were granted for various works totaling ₹1,500 crore. Emphasis was placed on maintenance and repair initiatives to ensure effective utilization of the budget.
Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has directed department heads to prioritize critical projects for the remaining three months of the fiscal year.
Dr. Bhosale noted that 50% of the funds for maintenance and repair had already been allocated. The review revealed the need for further action in multiple areas.
Department heads were asked to submit proposals outlining prioritized works, focusing on infrastructure maintenance and public service improvements.
The discussions during the meeting spanned various sectors, including health, education, water supply, information technology, solid waste management, and urban development projects such as the Metro and the JICA project.
Major Allocations for Projects:
Revenue projects: ₹300 crore approved
PM Aawas Yojana: ₹25 crore sanctioned
Equal Water Supply Scheme: ₹125 crore approved
Solid Waste Management: ₹400 crore allocated
Road infrastructure: ₹170 crore approved
Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park Master Plan: ₹25 crore sanctioned
Dog shelters (5 locations): ₹10 crore sanctioned
Various project works: ₹300 crore approved
JICA project: ₹394 crore allocated
School infrastructure maintenance and CCTV installation: Approved
This funding aims to enhance infrastructure, improve public services, and ensure efficient project execution. The Financial Committee has urged departments to expedite their proposals and implementation strategies for these critical works.
