Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) launched a citywide anti-encroachment drive across five key zones.
Over 5,000 sq. ft. of unauthorized structures, including stalls, sheds, and hawker setups, were cleared.
Action targeted vendors violating license rules, using cylinders, subletting spaces, or operating outside approved areas.
Pune, 12 September 2025: Acting on the orders of the Municipal Commissioner, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an extensive anti-encroachment campaign to clear public areas of illegal structures. The drive began on September 9 and will continue until further notice, focusing on removing unauthorized stalls, sheds, and hawker violations across key city zones.
On Thursday, PMC teams carried out simultaneous demolition operations in Aundh-Baner, Nagar Road–Vadgaonsheri, Mundhwa-Hadapsar, Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar, and Kasba-Vishrambaugwada. More than 5,000 sq. ft. of illegal constructions were cleared during the day, including 2 stalls, 19 street vendors, 90 hawkers, and 97 unauthorized sheds that were obstructing public movement.
The civic administration said the action targeted hawkers and vendors who were breaking license conditions by subletting spaces, running unapproved businesses, or using gas cylinders in their operations. Many were found operating outside the designated zones, creating safety hazards and blocking sidewalks, footpaths, and open areas.
Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Bhalgat led the joint operation with the Encroachment Department, supported by local police and the Maharashtra Security Force. Teams coordinated across all five zones to ensure swift and effective removal of the illegal setups.
