Nearly 6,000 objections and suggestions have been filed on Pune’s draft ward structure.
Hearings will be held on September 11 and 12 at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir before Additional Secretary V. Radha.
Final ward structure will be announced only after these hearings.
Pune, 9th September 2025: Nearly 6,000 objections and suggestions have been filed regarding the draft ward structure prepared for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections.
To address these, hearings will be held on September 11 and 12 at BalGandharva Rangmandir. The process will be overseen by Additional Secretary of the General Administration Department, V. Radha.
The new ward plan was created after 32 villages were recently merged into PMC limits, leading to significant changes in boundaries. Citizens were given time until September 4 to raise objections. Interestingly, more than 3,500 objections were submitted on the last day itself, reflecting strong public response.
During the two-day hearing, all complaints and suggestions will be considered individually. Based on this, V. Radha will prepare the final report, after which the conclusive ward structure will be announced.
The draft plan includes a total of 41 wards with 165 corporators. Out of these, 22 wards are reserved for Scheduled Castes and two for Scheduled Tribes. Forty wards will have four members each, while one ward will have five members.
The hearings will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. On September 11, objections for wards 1 to 29 will be heard, followed by wards 30 to 41 on September 12. Notices have already been sent by PMC to the concerned parties.
