Pune: A remarkable achievement by a young girl from Bhangaon, Taluka Daund, has brought immense pride to her family and community. Nineteen-year-old Pooja Kashinath Mahanwar has successfully secured a position in the Mumbai Police force in her very first attempt. The accomplishment has been met with celebrations at her ancestral home in Karande Pingle Vasti's Dhangar Wada.
Pooja hails from a humble shepherd and farming family. Her parents, Kashinath Shivaji Mahanwar and Sonali Kashinath Mahanwar, originally lived in Bhangaon. Recognizing the importance of quality education, Pooja’s father decided to move the family to Mumbai two years ago. To support their livelihood and fund their children's education, he took up work as a tempo driver. Pooja’s mother also played a crucial role in encouraging and supporting her studies.
With a clear goal of joining the police force, Pooja began her rigorous training at Prahar Academy in Andheri in August 2023. Through dedicated efforts and unwavering determination, she successfully cleared the recruitment process and secured a position in the Mumbai Police force at the young age of 19.
To honor her success, a special felicitation ceremony was held in the presence of Daund MLA Rahul Kul. The event was attended by her proud father Kashinath Mahanwar, Lakshman Dorge, Vijay Dorge, and Karyatva Foundation founder Shyam Kapre.
Speaking at the event, Pooja expressed that her ambition was not just to secure employment but to serve and protect society as a police officer. She emphasized her determination to continue progressing in her career, stating that she aims to become a Sub-Inspector in the future, fulfilling the aspirations of her parents.
