Prayagraj: A disturbing video has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, showing a shocking incident in which a young man forced his way into the room of two female students at around 2 a.m. and violently attacked them. He yanked their hair and hurled verbal abuse at them.
The accused is the son of the owner of a hostel located in the Shankar Ghat area of Shivkuti police station in the Other City Zone. The two students were staying there and preparing for competitive exams, according to an NDTV India report.
The 30-second video of the incident is rapidly spreading on social media. It depicts a man assaulting two female students and dragging one of them by her hair, while an elderly woman is seen attempting to intervene and stop him.
The girls accused the hostel owner’s son of harassing them and acting with malicious intent. They stated that on May 18, he attempted to force his way into their room and, when they resisted, he allegedly attacked them, according to Times Now. According to reports, they claimed that the lodge owner’s son was intoxicated and repeatedly called and messaged them. When they failed to answer his calls, he allegedly started pounding on the door.
The hostel owner’s son has been identified as Shubham Dwivedi. According to the allegations, when the students refused to open the door, he locked it from the outside. One of the students then contacted another woman living nearby for assistance. The accused is also said to have repeatedly called the other student and locked her room from the outside as well.
With no escape, the students started shouting for help. The accused’s mother then came to the scene, prompting him to open the door. He allegedly went on to verbally abuse and physically assault them again.One of the victims first contacted her cousin, who resides nearby, and then called the emergency number 112 to alert the police. She further claimed that the accused assaulted her with a piece of broken glass even while police officers were present and threatened to kill her.
Acting on the students’ complaint, police registered an FIR and took the accused into custody, but he was subsequently released on bail by the court.The victim, a native of Amethi district, resides there while preparing for competitive examinations. She claimed that Dwivedi had been tormenting her with inappropriate phone calls over the past 10 days.
