Pune: In a remarkable initiative to preserve cultural heritage, artists from Pune gathered at the historic Bhuleshwar temple to create lifelike paintings of its exquisite sculptures. The program, organized by Sanskar Bharati and the Pune Municipal Corporation, sought to immortalize the temple’s artistry and architectural beauty.
Lifelike Artistic Renditions
The artists meticulously recreated various elements of the Bhuleshwar temple, including its outer spire, intricate carvings, detailed depictions of divine and human forms inside the sanctum sanctorum, and smaller details within the temple complex. These efforts captured the essence of the temple’s aesthetic charm and highlighted the intricate craftsmanship of ancient times.
Participants ranged from young artists like 7-year-old Arya Pokale to senior veteran painter Pandit Mule, aged 78. Renowned painters such as Rajendra Mehta, Pradeep Kabade, Sumedh Wagle, and others lent their talents to the cause. The program’s organizers, including Shailesh Meshram, Kudalayya Hirematt, and Nitin Sonawane, ensured smooth execution of the initiative.
The initiative received wholehearted support from Malshiras Gram Panchayat member Sharad Yadav and the local community, who appreciated the artists for their dedication and talent. The villagers were particularly impressed by the lifelike quality of the paintings, which brought the temple’s sculptures to life on canvas.
A Message of Preservation
Speaking about the initiative, artist Nitin Sonawane said, “Our mission is to not only nurture artistic talents but also to study and preserve ancient structures. Through our work, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of heritage preservation.”
The artists’ efforts have not only documented the temple’s beauty for posterity but also inspired the local community to appreciate and protect their cultural heritage.
