Pune: The Warje Malwadi police have registered a case under the POCSO Act after an 11-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted by a 24-year-old man. The accused, his accomplice, and the owner and manager of a lodge have been booked for their involvement in the crime.
As per the police complaint filed by the victim’s father, the incident took place on March 21, around 12:30 PM, when the minor girl left home to visit a shop in Warje Malwadi.
The accused and his accomplice intercepted her and forcibly took her away on a two-wheeler. She was taken to a lodge in Uttam Nagar, where the accused sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she refused to marry him.
Investigations revealed that the same accused had previously assaulted the girl one and a half years ago. The accomplice also threatened the victim, warning her of serious consequences if she did not agree to marry his friend.
Lodge Owner and Manager Also Booked
During the investigation, it was found that the lodge owner and manager knowingly allowed the minor girl to stay at the lodge, despite knowing her age. As a result, they have been booked for their role in facilitating the crime.
The investigation is currently being led by Senior Police Inspector Vishwajit Kaingade. Since the victim is a minor, the accused have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
