Pune Airport ranked 2nd in India and improved globally from 59th to 57th in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey.
The April–June 2025 report by AAI and ACI shows improved performance in 27 out of 31 service parameters.
Despite progress, issues like staff behaviour and delays remain areas for improvement at Pune Airport.
Pune, 29 July 2025: Pune Airport has made significant progress in service quality, climbing from the 4th to the 2nd position among Indian airports, and from 59th to 57th globally in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings. The rankings were published by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with Canada-based Airport Council International (ACI) for the April to June 2025 quarter.
The ASQ survey is conducted based on direct feedback from passengers and evaluates airports across multiple parameters. In this round, Pune Airport showed improvement in 27 out of 31 categories, including cleanliness, check-in time, staff behaviour, food stalls, and terminal maintenance. The survey covered nearly 500 airports worldwide, with 16 airports participating from India.
Pune falls under the "Best Airport by Size" category, where it secured the second rank among 16 Indian airports. Officials attribute the improved ranking to consistent efforts in enhancing passenger experience and maintaining airport infrastructure.
However, the report also pointed out certain shortcomings. Passengers noted delays in reaching the airport on time, lack of courteous behaviour by airline staff, insufficient assistance during check-in, and poor communication at food stalls. These concerns affected ratings in four areas where performance declined.
According to aviation expert Dhairyashil Vandekar, while Pune Airport’s improvement in service quality is a positive sign, it’s essential to focus on the areas that received negative feedback. Addressing those issues could help Pune further improve its national and global standing.
