The event was organized by the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Festival Committee, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI), Savitribai Phule Pune University, the Pune District Amateur Athletics Association, and the Constitution Foundation.
The event was inaugurated at the Khashaba Jadhav Sports Complex, Savitribai Phule Pune University, by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi, BARTI Director General Sunil Ware, Chief Organizer Parshuram Wadekar, Dr. Vijay Khare, and Shailesh Bhandari. During the ceremony, the Preamble to the Constitution of India was read aloud to commemorate the occasion.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale honored the winners by presenting trophies, certificates, and cash prizes. Among the dignitaries present were MLA Siddharth Shirole, RPI city president Sanjay Sonawane, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar, Registrar Jyoti Bhakare, BARTI Registrar Indira Aswar, former Pune Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, and Marathon Organizer Advocate Abhay Chhajed.
Speaking at the event, Minister Athawale said, "The Constitution is our pride. Like this run that began in the darkness and culminated in light, our Constitution has taken the nation from darkness to enlightenment. The participation of students, women, and international participants is a testament to the importance of honoring our Constitution."
The mini-marathon included three categories—Under-16, Under-18, and an open age group—with distances of 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Additionally, two wheelchair races for differently-abled participants, one for automatic and the other for manual wheelchairs, were held.
