Pune: The Pune judicial administration has uncovered a case of counterfeit toner being supplied for printers used in court proceedings. A fraud case has been registered against the vendor, Venkateshwara Infotech, for supplying fake toners under the name of a reputed manufacturing company.

The issue came to light when Shivajinagar Court employee Uttam Thorat, responsible for administrative tasks, placed an order for 30 toners through an official letter.

The toners were delivered to the Nazir office of the court and were labeled as products from a well-known brand. However, upon use, the toners were found to be defective and were subsequently returned to the vendor.

The vendor provided 30 replacement toners, which were again found to be defective. This prompted Thorat to contact the manufacturing company directly, where it was confirmed that the toners supplied were counterfeit. In response, Thorat lodged a complaint with the Shivajinagar Police Station, alleging fraud by the vendor.

Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Pandhare is leading the investigation into the matter. The incident has raised concerns about the quality and authenticity of supplies procured for judicial use, prompting further scrutiny of procurement processes.
