Pune: A 24-year-old woman from Manjari has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband and in-laws, alleging that her husband took loans worth ₹7 lakh using her Aadhaar card and mobile phone and later threw her out of the house when she refused to ask her father for money.

The Hadapsar Police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Rohit Raju Thorat (resident of Swaroop Apartment, Aurangabad), along with his mother, father, and sister, making it a total of five accused. The incidents occurred between April 25 and September 8, 2024.

Marriage Started With Love but Turned Into Financial Exploitation

According to the police, the complainant met Rohit Thorat through Instagram in 2019, and their friendship turned into love. With their families' approval, they got married on April 25, 2024.

After marriage, she moved to Aurangabad to live with her husband. Initially, things were normal, but soon, financial disputes began. One day, Rohit Thorat confessed that he had borrowed money and demanded that she bring money from her father.

When she refused, he forced her out of the house. Under pressure, she later borrowed some money from her father and gave it to him. However, Thorat’s financial demands continued. When she refused to ask for more money, he used her Aadhaar card and mobile phone to take multiple online loans amounting to ₹7 lakh.

Since the loan installments were not paid, bank representatives began visiting her father’s house, demanding repayment. When the complainant confronted her husband and asked him to clear the loan, he insisted that she ask her father for money again.

Upon her refusal, he threw her out of the house on September 7, 2024. Since then, she has been staying with her parents. The Hadapsar Police have registered a case of domestic violence against Rohit Thorat and his family. Police Constable Yogita Tilekar is investigating the matter.
