Pune: Leafy Greens, Lemons, and Sweet Limes Get Costlier at Market Yard; Mint Down

In the fruit section, prices of lemons and sweet limes (mosambi) surged, while strawberry prices declined.

Pune: The wholesale vegetable and fruit market at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard saw price fluctuations in leafy greens and fruits on Sunday (February 9). While prices of coriander, ambadi, chuka, and chawli increased, rates of chakvat, radish, and mint declined. Prices of most vegetables and fruits remained stable as per reports from traders.

On Sunday, 90 truckloads of vegetables arrived at Pune’s wholesale market from various parts of Maharashtra and other states. The arrivals included:

  • Green chilies: 10 to 12 tempos (from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh)

  • Cabbage: 4 to 5 tempos (from Karnataka and Gujarat)

  • French beans and papdi: 3 to 4 tempos (from Karnataka)

  • Groundnut pods: 2 tempos

  • Drumsticks: 3 to 4 tempos (from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu)

  • Carrots: 14 to 15 tempos (from Rajasthan)

  • Peas: 20 to 22 truckloads (from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh)

  • Totapuri mangoes: 1 tempo (from Andhra Pradesh)

  • Garlic: 10 to 12 tempos (from Madhya Pradesh)

From Pune and surrounding regions, key arrivals included:

  • 550 to 600 sacks of Satari yams

  • 7 to 8 tempos of okra

  • 5 to 6 tempos of cluster beans

  • 10 to 12 thousand crates of tomatoes

  • 4 to 5 tempos of green chilies

  • 10 to 12 tempos of capsicum

  • 7 to 8 tempos of cucumbers

  • 5 to 6 tempos of cabbage

  • 10 to 12 tempos of cauliflower

  • 14 to 15 tempos of red pumpkin

  • 120 to 125 truckloads of onions

  • 28 to 30 tempos of potatoes from Indore, Agra, and local markets

Rising Prices of Lemons and Sweet Limes in Fruit Market

In the fruit section, prices of lemons and sweet limes (mosambi) surged, while strawberry prices declined. Prices of pineapples, oranges, watermelons, muskmelons, papayas, sapodillas (chikoo), Indian jujube (ber), pomegranates, and guavas remained unchanged.

Sunday’s fruit arrivals included:

  • Sweet lime: 35 to 45 tons

  • Oranges: 25 to 30 tons

  • Pomegranates: 20 to 25 tons

  • Lemons: 1,500 sacks

  • Watermelons: 8 to 12 tempos

  • Muskmelons: 10 to 12 tempos

  • Sapodillas: 1,000 sacks

  • Guavas: 100 crates

  • Pineapples: 8 truckloads

  • Indian jujube (ber): 300 sacks
