Under the agreement, the revenue generated from the parking facility will be divided as follows: 80 per cent to PMC and 20 per cent to MahaMetro.

Pune: The long-abandoned mechanized parking facility near the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Udyan on Jangli Maharaj Road is set to be transferred to MahaMetro, following approval from the Rent and Security Deposit Determination Committee.

The parking facility, built at a cost of ₹2.5 crore by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), has been lying unused for several years due to lack of maintenance.

Revenue Sharing Model

Under the agreement, the revenue generated from the parking facility will be divided as follows:

  • 80% to PMC

  • 20% to MahaMetro

A detailed proposal regarding the handover is being prepared by the Project Department and will be submitted to the Municipal Commissioner for final approval.

Constructed 10-12 years ago, the parking facility was leased to a private contractor. However, instead of providing public parking, the contractor allocated spaces to a car showroom linked to a prominent political figure.

Following this misuse, PMC canceled the contract and took back control of the facility. The parking lot has remained non-functional for the past 7-8 years, gradually falling into disrepair.

While the decision to transfer the facility to MahaMetro has been made, there is uncertainty over who will bear the repair costs. Since MahaMetro’s share of the revenue is limited to 20%, it is unlikely to fund the necessary renovations. This raises concerns that PMC may need to allocate additional funds to restore the facility.
