Pune Market Yard: Fall in Vegetable Prices, Lemon and Papaya Prices Rise

While lemons and papayas experienced a price surge, pomegranate prices saw a decline. The prices of pineapples, watermelons, oranges, muskmelons, and sapotas remained steady.

Pune: The Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard in Pune witnessed a significant drop in the prices of vegetables like drumsticks, capsicum, cauliflower, and groundnut pods. On the other hand, green chili prices saw an upward trend. According to market traders, the prices of other vegetables remained stable.

On Sunday, the wholesale market received around 90 truckloads of vegetables from both within Maharashtra and other states. This marked a noticeable decline in supply compared to the previous week. Additionally, 4 to 5 tempos of cabbage came from Karnataka and Gujarat, while cluster beans were delivered in 2 to 4 tempos from Karnataka. Drumsticks from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were brought in 5 to 6 tempos, and Rajasthan contributed 5 to 6 tempos of carrots.

From the Pune region, the market recorded the following supplies:

  • Satari Beans: 550 to 600 sacks

  • Okra: 6 to 7 tempos

  • Cluster Beans: 2 to 3 tempos

  • Tomatoes: 8,000 to 10,000 crates

  • Green Chilies: 3 to 4 tempos

  • Capsicum: 10 to 12 tempos

  • Cucumbers: 10 to 12 tempos

  • Cabbage: 7 to 8 tempos

  • Cauliflower: 10 to 12 tempos

  • Pumpkins: 10 to 12 tempos

  • Onions: 100 trucks

  • Potatoes: 60 to 65 tempos from Indore, Agra, and nearby regions

Wholesale prices per hundred bundles were recorded as follows:

  • Coriander: ₹800 to ₹1,500

  • Fenugreek: ₹1,200 to ₹1,500

  • Dill: ₹800 to ₹1,000

  • Spring Onions: ₹800 to ₹1,200

  • Safflower Leaves: ₹300 to ₹600

  • Mint: ₹300 to ₹500

  • Red Amaranth: ₹400 to ₹600

  • Spinach: ₹800 to ₹1,200

Lemon and Papaya Prices Rise

The fruit market reported the following arrivals on Sunday (March 23):

  • Sweet Lime: 45 to 50 tons

  • Oranges: 50 to 60 tons

  • Pomegranates: 30 to 35 tons

  • Papayas: 8 to 10 tempos

  • Lemons: 1,500 to 2,000 sacks

  • Watermelons: 70 to 80 tempos

  • Muskmelons: 35 to 40 tempos

  • Sapotas: 2,000 boxes

  • Guavas: 250 to 300 crates

  • Pineapples: 4 trucks
