According to Bundgarden Police, Jyoti was found hanging in an empty room near her own in the hostel. Her classmates and hostel staff noticed her absence and alerted the authorities. Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information.

A handwritten note was recovered from the room. Initial investigation suggests she was going through depression, but the exact cause behind the suicide is yet to be confirmed. Police said the case is being further investigated, and her family has been informed.

Jyoti had come to Pune for her medical education and was known to be a quiet and focused student. Her sudden death has shocked her peers and the college staff.

This incident comes close on the heels of two other recent suicides in Pune, a 28-year-old postgraduate doctor found dead in a private hospital hostel, and a young engineer who died after jumping from the roof of his office building in Hinjewadi. Both cases are also under investigation, with early findings pointing to mental health struggles.
