Pune: The Anti-Narcotics Cell and Anti-Extortion Squad of Pune City Police arrested two individuals in a significant operation on Friday (November 29), recovering Mephedrone valued at ₹14.6 lakh, a locally made pistol, and two live cartridges. The operation also led to the seizure of items worth a total of ₹16.57 lakh.

The arrested suspects are identified as Bobby Bhagwat Survase (28), a resident of Laxminagar, Yerawada, and Tosim alias Laddoo Rahim Khan (32), a resident of Dargah Road, Kasba Peth.

The teams had been tracking drug traffickers for several days based on intelligence inputs.

Acting on a tip-off, the police detained the two suspects from a central city location. Investigations revealed that the seized pistol was intended for use against a rival gang in a planned attack.

Officials are probing whether the weapon was brought to target specific individuals. The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Nitinkumar Naik.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik.

The action involved officers from the Anti-Narcotics Cell and the Anti-Extortion Squad, including Police Inspectors Vijay Kumbhar and Sudarshan Gaikwad.
