Pune: A protest by activists of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) at the Pune Metro Station caused major disruptions in metro services for nearly two hours.

Protesters allegedly pushed police personnel and attempted to pour petrol on a senior officer. The incident drew sharp criticism from MLA Hemant Rasane, who asserted that such lawlessness would not be tolerated in Pune.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on March 10, Rasane demanded a government-led inquiry into the matter and called for strict action against those responsible.

Unruly Protest Disrupts Metro Services

According to reports, protesters used abusive language against journalists, attempted to pour petrol on the Deputy Commissioner of Police, and manhandled police officers. Their actions disrupted metro operations for nearly two hours. Following the incident, the city president of the party expelled the office-bearers involved.

Call for Stern Action

Rasane acknowledged the right to protest in a democracy but criticized the protesters for crossing limits during their agitation. He emphasized that Maharashtra is progressing swiftly under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's leadership, and such acts of anarchy should not be tolerated.
