The new direct connection to Mahatma Phule Mandai has made travel easier for devotees. Instead of navigating heavy road traffic, many from Pimpri Chinchwad, Ramwadi, and nearby suburbs are parking at stations like Pimpri Chinchwad, Ramwadi, Fugewadi, Dapodi, and Vanaz before heading into the city by Metro.

As a result, stations such as Mandai, Swargate, Shivajinagar, and Kasba Peth have seen overwhelming footfall, with Mandai becoming the busiest stop of all. Metro authorities have advised commuters to also use Shivajinagar and Kasba Peth for smoother access to the city centre.

On regular days, Pune Metro carries around 2.1 lakh passengers daily. But during the festival, the number has consistently crossed 3 lakh. According to Metro officials, the surge shows how quickly people are adopting this mode of transport during busy city events.

For many residents, this Ganeshotsav was their first time travelling by Metro. The mix of faith and convenience not only reduced road congestion but also highlighted the Metro’s growing role in Pune’s urban mobility.\
