Pune: Misunderstanding About Marriage Leads to Assault, Robbery Case

The complainant, a 39-year-old resident of Rahatani, was traveling to Katraj on his two-wheeler carrying hardware supplies when he was intercepted by accused, known to him.

Pune: A man was assaulted and robbed by four individuals who mistakenly believed he had married a woman from another community. The incident occurred near Mai Mangeshkar Hospital in Warje on August 17, 2024, at 6:15 PM.

The complainant, a 39-year-old resident of Rahatani, was traveling to Katraj on his two-wheeler carrying hardware supplies when he was intercepted by the accused, known to him.

According to the police, the accused—identified as Multanaram Sutar of Market Yard, Vasusing Bhati of Kondhwa, Dalpatsingh Devda of Bhavani Peth, and Savaisinh Badmer of Warje—stopped the complainant's vehicle and assaulted him.

The misunderstanding arose from the belief that the complainant had married a woman from another community, who was also his business partner.

Following the assault, the accused forcibly took the complainant's mobile phone and ₹4,000 in cash before fleeing the scene.

A case of robbery has been registered against the accused at Warje police station. Police Sub-Inspector Narale is conducting the investigation.
