Pune: In a move aimed at accelerating urban development, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has formally requested 15 government plots from the District Collector’s office. These plots are intended for a range of development initiatives, including road widening, construction of water tanks, sports grounds, and riverfront beautification projects.
A recent meeting chaired by District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase reviewed PMC’s request. Surveys and demarcation processes have begun for some of the identified plots, while feedback from relevant departments, including the Forest Department and local self-government bodies, is being collected.
Proposed Projects and Locations
Water Tanks: Bavdhan and Mahalunge
Roadworks: Kothrud and Ambegaon (Budruk)
Road Widening: Bhamburde
Playground: Shivajinagar
Riverfront Beautification: Sangamwadi
Railway Overpass and Road Widening: Mundhwa and Ghorpadi
Land Acquisition Process
Government land is under the jurisdiction of the District Collector, and requests must follow a defined procedure. Upon submission of the proposal by PMC, the district administration seeks inputs from various departments to ensure the feasibility of the project. After this, the land is surveyed, and its value is determined based on current market rates.
In cases where encroachments are identified, they are removed by the respective authorities. The land acquisition process is expedited to ensure timely completion of development projects. For water supply initiatives, government plots are provided free of charge, while other plots are transferred to PMC after payment based on market valuation.
The requested plots are vital to enhancing infrastructure and amenities across Pune. PMC has emphasized the importance of expediting the acquisition process to meet the growing demands of the city’s urbanization.
