Pune, 13 August 2025: The inauguration of two key flyovers, the one connecting Shiva Kashid Chowk to Hingne on Sinhgad Road, and another between Raj Bhavan and E-Square, has been postponed by at least 10 days. Both projects were earlier scheduled to open on August 15.
The Sinhgad Road flyover, part of Pune Municipal Corporation’s ₹118 crore project to build three flyovers to ease traffic congestion in the area, is in its final stage. The first two flyovers have already been opened to the public, while the third, a ₹40 crore stretch from Kashid Chowk to a petrol pump at Hingne, is awaiting completion.
Work on the Manikbag end of the flyover is done, including the ramp and asphalt layer. On the Hingne side, most ramp construction is complete, but railing installation, streetlight fitting, and painting are still pending. The civic body had set a deadline of August 15 for the contractor, but the work is now expected to take around 10 more days.
To avoid traffic chaos and accidents, modifications are being made at the Hingne petrol pump end of the ramp. Since vehicles from the flyover could turn left directly into the pump, the ramp barrier is being extended to prevent sudden turns. The adjoining road from Hingne Chowk to the petrol pump is also set for repairs, encroachment removal, and clearing of obstacles near the bus stop.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the Sinhgad Road flyover will open along with the University Road flyover once all remaining work is completed.
