Pune: The Delhi High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar and revoked her protection from arrest. Acting on this, a Pune Police team visited Khedkar's residence on Wednesday (December 25), but she was not present at the location.
The legal troubles for Khedkar stem from allegations of exploiting the OBC quota for benefits despite her family allegedly possessing wealth amounting to crores. Additionally, she faces accusations of submitting fraudulent disability certificates.
A case against Khedkar has been registered with the Delhi Police, leading her to seek anticipatory bail for protection from legal action. However, her plea was initially rejected by the Patiala House Court in Delhi. Following this, Khedkar appealed to the Delhi High Court, which also dismissed her petition, paving the way for further action.
The union government had officially removed Puja Khedkar from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Puja Khedkar's removal stems from allegations of submitting false information to secure a reserved seat in the 2022 UPSC Civil Services Examination.
On July 31, the UPSC officially annulled her candidature, citing her actions as fraudulent and detrimental to the integrity of the Commission and the public. The agency also sought custodial interrogation to further investigate the scope of the alleged conspiracy.
