Pune Railway Division Fines Nearly 24,000 Ticketless Travelers in September

In September, 20569 passengers were found traveling without tickets, while 2,986 passengers were discovered with irregular tickets.

Pune: The Pune railway division has intensified its crackdown on ticketless and irregular travelers, penalizing nearly 24,000 passengers in September alone.

In a bid to ensure compliance with ticketing regulations, the division conducted extensive ticket inspections and recovered a total fine of ₹92 lakh from violators.

According to a statement from the railway administration, during inspections in September, 20,569 passengers were found traveling without tickets, while 2,986 passengers were discovered with irregular tickets.

Furthermore, 387 passengers were penalized for failing to properly book their luggage. These passengers were all fined on the spot as part of the stringent enforcement drive.

From April to September 2024, the Pune railway division has taken action against 1,71,420 passengers who were either traveling without tickets or violating ticketing rules in some other way.

During this period, a staggering ₹10.73 crore in fines has been collected, marking a significant contribution to railway revenue and underscoring the authorities' commitment to curbing ticketless travel.

The crackdown in September was carried out under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey and Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve and Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera also played key roles in organizing the ticket inspection operations and ensuring smooth enforcement.

The railway authorities have reiterated their call for passengers to adhere to ticketing rules and avoid penalties.
