Pune: The Nana Saheb Peshwa Lake in Katraj has overflowed, reaching its full capacity after continuous heavy rain since Wednesday (July 24). Water has been released from the lake’s sluice gates to manage the overflow.

Heavy rainfall is also reported in the Katraj Ghat and the surrounding hilly areas, leading to substantial runoff into the Katraj Lake from nearby streams and rivulets.

In response to the severe rainfall impacting Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the surrounding rural areas, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar conducted an emergency teleconference with Dr. Suhas Divase, the District Collector and Chief of the District Disaster Management Authority, on Thursday (July 25) morning.

The discussion centered on the current flood conditions and the preparedness for rescue and relief efforts.

Minister Pawar has urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, emphasizing the importance of minimizing travel during this crisis.

With heavy rains lashing Khadakwasla and other parts of the district, Pawar instructed the administration and disaster response teams to stay alert and provide prompt assistance to those in need.

Pune has been battered by intense rainfall, severely impacting daily life across the city. The Sinhagad Road area, among others, has seen significant waterlogging, with many homes affected by the deluge.

The Pune district is under a red alert today due to the ongoing heavy rainfall. Residents of Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the rural regions have been advised to exercise caution, contact local administrative bodies in emergencies.
