Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a complete water supply shutdown across the city on Thursday, April 3, for essential pre-summer maintenance work.
Residents are advised to use water sparingly and make necessary arrangements in advance. Water supply will resume on Friday, April 4, but with a delay and reduced pressure in the morning.
Why the Shutdown is Necessary
PMC officials have stated that this shutdown is required for urgent repairs at multiple water treatment plants, pumping stations, and reservoirs. These repairs are crucial to prevent sudden disruptions in water supply during peak summer months.
The following key water treatment centers and storage tanks will undergo maintenance:
Parvati Water Treatment Plants (New & Old)
Parvati Tanker Point
Bhama Askhed Water Center
Lashkar, Holkar, and Wadgaon Water Centers
Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station (Katraj Chowk)
Khadakwasla Jackwell Warje Phases 1 & 2
Warje Water Center & associated tanks
Chandni Chowk, Gandhi Bhavan, Pancard Club, SNDT, and HLR Tanks
Ganpati Matha & Old Warje Water Center
SNDT (MLR) & Chatuhshrungi Tank Area
Kondhwe-Dhawade Water Center
PMC has assured that all electrical, pumping, and structural repairs will be completed on the same day to minimize inconvenience.
Appeal to Citizens
Authorities have urged residents to store enough water in advance and avoid wastage. Since water demand rises significantly during summer, this planned maintenance is necessary to ensure an uninterrupted supply in the coming months.
