Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched the Pune Road Mitra mobile app, allowing citizens to report potholes, damaged footpaths, and cycle tracks directly to civic authorities.
Complaints with photos or videos and location data will be sent to the concerned engineer, who must resolve them within 72 hours or face action.
The move comes ahead of a special drive to make city roads pothole-free before the Ganesh festival on August 27.
Pune, 13 August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a new mobile application, Pune Road Mitra, to help residents quickly report potholes and other road damages. The app, now available on the Google Play Store, allows citizens to upload photos or videos from the spot. Location details are automatically recorded, and the complaint is sent to the concerned civic engineer as well as their superiors.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the app is meant to make road repairs faster and more transparent. Once a complaint is received, the responsible officer must ensure the repair is completed within 72 hours. If the work is not done in time, action will be taken against the officer.
The app also accepts complaints about broken footpaths and damaged cycle tracks. Residents can track the status of their complaints, while PMC staff will upload proof once the work is completed. Data from the app will help officials identify areas with frequent road issues and monitor compliance.
Chief engineer Annirudha Pawaskar said potholes not only damage vehicles but also cause traffic disruptions and safety risks. He added that PMC is giving priority to quick and efficient road repairs and is already using ‘road patcher’ technology and repair vans to speed up the process.
The civic body has launched a special drive to make city roads pothole-free before the Ganesh festival begins on August 27. Pawaskar also appealed to Ganesh mandals to set up their festival pandals without digging up roads or footpaths.
