Pune, 14 June 2025: Ronita Roy Ghosh, a social entrepreneur and the country president of the World Chamber for Social Business, has been appointed chairperson of the ‘Inclusive Economy and Employment’ section of the Youth Engagement Platform (Y-20) at the upcoming G-20 summit to be held in Pretoria, South Africa, this October. She is the only Indian to receive an appointment by the South African government for this prestigious forum.

In her role, Ronita will collaborate with representatives from 20 countries to develop policy frameworks that foster inclusive economic opportunities and generate new employment avenues. These recommendations will be presented at the main G-20 summit.

A resident of Baner, Pune, Ronita is well known for her community service during the COVID-19 pandemic when she, through the ‘Jikoni Foundation’, ensured daily meals for vulnerable groups including patients at Sassoon Hospital for over 45 days, benefiting more than three lakh citizens.

Her other notable initiatives include ‘Ektra’ for collective farming, ‘Mee Ahe’ for farmer support, and ‘Cafe Haridrara’ which empowers widows affected by the pandemic. She has also elevated handcrafted quilts made by rural women to national and international markets, creating employment opportunities for them.

An alumna of Delhi University with a degree in Management Science in Social Business from Italy, Ronita expressed her pride at being able to take India’s grassroots initiatives to a global platform. She said, “My appointment to the G-20 Council means our country’s social models can now reach the international stage. As an Indian, it is a matter of great pride for me.”
