Pune: The Pune Police's Foreigners Registration Office (FRO), under the Special Branch, has detained seven Yemeni nationals, including two women, for illegally staying in the city’s Kondhwa area after their visas and passports had expired. Deportation proceedings have been initiated against them.

Acting on instructions from Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to crack down on illegal residents, the FRO conducted an inspection drive in the NIBM area. During the operation, the seven Yemeni nationals were discovered living in a housing society without valid documentation.

The FRO issued "Leave India" notices to the individuals, informing them of their violation of visa regulations. The process to deport the individuals back to Yemen has been initiated. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities have emphasized their commitment to maintaining compliance with immigration regulations.

Pune is home to a large number of foreign nationals who come for education, business, or medical purposes. However, cases of foreigners overstaying their visas have been a recurring concern. To address this, the Police Commissioner recently directed the FRO to identify and take action against such cases, resulting in the current operation.
