Pune, 24 July 2025: In a coordinated operation, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) detained six Bangladeshi nationals who were living illegally in India. The group was intercepted near Bhujbal Chowk in Wakad, along the Pune–Bengaluru Highway, as they attempted to escape to Mumbai.

Acting on specific intelligence received by Crime Branch Unit 4, the police laid a trap in the area and successfully detained the suspects before they could flee. During initial interrogation, the individuals gave misleading information about their identity and nationality. However, sustained questioning revealed solid evidence confirming that all six were Bangladeshi nationals.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Usman Shirajun Ali Sheikh, Abdullah Shagar Mulla, Mobin Haroon Sheikh, Jahangir Billa Mulla, Mohammad Ilahin Ilyas Biswas, and Tohid Muslem Hasan Sheikh.

Following their detention, the accused were handed over to the BSF at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport. On July 22, 2025, they were flown to Guwahati and subsequently deported to Bangladesh on a special flight under BSF escort.

This operation reflects the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to track down and deport illegal immigrants residing in urban centres.
