Pune Accident: Man Sleeping on Road in Pune’s Tadiwala Area Killed by Speeding Car

A 35-year-old man sleeping on Tadiwala Road in Pune was killed by a speeding car on May 12, 2025. Police are using CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.

On the night of May 12, 2025, Saroj Sudarshan Bishwal, a resident of Vadgaonsheri, was sleeping on the roadside near Saurabh Hall in Pune’s Tadiwala area. In the early hours, a four-wheeler traveling at high speed struck Bishwal, causing him severe injuries. Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival due to the extent of his injuries.

Following the incident, Pune police launched a thorough investigation. Officers immediately began reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed along Tadiwala Road and adjacent areas. The aim is to trace the vehicle involved and identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.

According to police sources, the CCTV footage is being carefully analyzed to track the car’s route before and after the accident. Investigators are also collecting statements from witnesses and residents in the vicinity to gather more details about the vehicle and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.

The deceased, Saroj Sudarshan Bishwal, was 35 years old and originally from Vadgaonsheri. His untimely death has drawn attention to the dangers faced by those forced to sleep on city streets, especially in high-traffic areas like Tadiwala Road. The incident has prompted calls for increased patrolling, better lighting, and more proactive measures to protect vulnerable populations from such preventable tragedies.

Pune has witnessed several fatal accidents involving pedestrians and those sleeping on or near roads. Experts and activists have repeatedly urged authorities to address issues like reckless driving, lack of speed control measures, and inadequate protection for the homeless. The use of CCTV cameras in traffic policing has become increasingly important in investigating such cases and ensuring accountability.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and are pursuing all leads to apprehend the driver. Once identified, the accused will face charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to causing death by negligence and failing to stop and render aid after an accident. Authorities have appealed to the public for any additional information that could assist in the investigation.
