Pune: Dr. P. Anbalagan, Principal Secretary (Industries), Government of Maharashtra announced that Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) plans to develop 50 sector-specific industrial clusters across Maharashtra over the next five years, with Pune emerging as a major beneficiary. Pune is set to host 10-15 clusters, attracting 50-60 companies in each cluster, with special focus on semiconductor and electronics industry.

Speaking on the sidelines of "Indo-American Chamber of Commerce Semiconductor Roundtable Series 2025 : Forgoing India-US Innovation," Anbalagan said, Pune’s robust industrial ecosystem makes it an ideal location for advanced manufacturing, engineering, and tech-driven industries.

"Each cluster will house 20-30 companies. These companies would make 25% private investment and state government will provide 75% support, enabling cutting-edge technology penetration. Pune alone is expected to have 10-15 clusters, attracting 50-60 companies," Anbalagan stated while speaking with media persons.

Anbalagan also stated that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has signed 51 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹11,700 crore. The agreements cover 26 companies, with incentives and packages approved by the Cabinet Subcommittee for 17 companies. The remaining 9 companies have received approval at Secretary level.

"Within just one month, investment projects worth ₹6,100 crore have already commenced. In 1.5 months, over 3,000+ acres of land has been allotted, including 1,200-1,300 acres in Ahilyanagar. Over the next six months, 4-5 major companies will receive land allotments. Some companies require up to 10,000 hectares, and MIDC will directly facilitate these purchases through government approvals. A notification for an additional 40,000 hectares of land will be issued soon."
