Pune: Zepto Delivery Executive Attacked and Robbed at Knifepoint in Sayyad Nagar

Pune: A group of criminals unleashed a wave of violence in Sayyad Nagar, robbing a delivery boy at knifepoint and later assaulting a senior citizen due to an old dispute. The Kalepadal police have registered two separate cases and arrested one accused, while another remains absconding.

The arrested individual has been identified as Noman Arif Sayyed (20, resident of Hadapsar), who already has six previous criminal cases against him. His accomplice, Shahrukh alias Hatti, is absconding, and the police have detained a minor involved in the crimes.

According to the complaint filed by Umar Shakeel Shaikh (21, resident of Mohammadwadi), the incident occurred on March 14 at around 1:00 AM in Sayyad Nagar. Shaikh, a delivery executive for Zepto, was riding his motorcycle to deliver an ice cream order when three men intercepted him. They blocked his way with their vehicle, threatened him with a sharp weapon, and forcefully took away his mobile phone and ₹630 cash. When the complainant resisted, one of the attackers slashed him with a machete, causing an injury to his ear.

Senior Citizen Assaulted and Threatened

Prior to this, on March 12 at around 11:00 PM, the same gang created terror in Sayyad Nagar. As per a complaint filed by Shabbir Sajju Sayyed (61, resident of Sayyad Nagar, Hadapsar), the accused Noman, Shahrukh, and their associates had a heated argument with him over an old dispute. They then attacked him with a wooden stick, injuring him, and issued death threats.

Following the complaints, the Kalepadal police swiftly took action. One of the prime accused, Noman Sayyed, was arrested, while the hunt for Shahrukh alias Hatti continues. Additionally, a minor has been detained in connection with the case.The cases are currently being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete.
