Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, secure outdoor belongings, and stay indoors if possible.

Pune: A heavy downpour is expected to begin by 4.30 across the city, with intense rainfall anticipated between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM on Monday (August 19).

Residents are urged to take necessary precautions as this weather event could cause significant disruptions, similar to what was experienced yesterday.

On August 18, Pune witnessed a sudden and intense rainstorm that resulted in widespread waterlogging and traffic chaos throughout the city.

Within just one hour, areas like Wadgaon Sheri, Koregaon Park, and Shivajinagar reported substantial rainfall, with Wadgaon Sheri receiving over 113.5 mm.

The downpour led to knee-deep water in some regions, particularly affecting Dhayari, Sinhagad Road, and Kharadi, where traffic came to a standstill due to waterlogged streets and stalled vehicles.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted similar weather conditions for this evening, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected across Pune. Localities that were severely affected yesterday, such as Ghorpadi and Yerawada, are likely to experience similar conditions today.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, secure outdoor belongings, and stay indoors if possible. Those currently on the roads should exercise extreme caution, as waterlogging and reduced visibility could pose serious hazards.
