Pune, 26 September 2025: Today the district administration will begin the actual land survey for the proposed Purandar International Airport, marking a key step in the long-awaited project. The survey follows the deadline for farmers to submit consent letters for land acquisition, which ended yesterday.
Officials said that around 95 percent of farmers from the seven affected villages, Pargaon, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Munjawadi, Khanwadi, Udachiwadi, and Vanpuri, have agreed to provide land. Initially, the government planned to acquire about 7,500 acres, but after local opposition, the requirement was reduced to around 3,000 acres last month.
The district administration has collected consent for roughly 2,700 acres so far, while about 200 acres of government-owned land will also be used, bringing the total to nearly 2,900 acres. A detailed proposal on compensation will now be prepared and sent to the state government. After approval, the formal land acquisition process will begin.
Farmers who submitted consent letters early will receive an added benefit: 10 percent of their land back within the proposed Aerocity, along with compensation at four times the prevailing market rate. Around 700 acres have been set aside for this purpose.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the land survey is expected to be completed by October 20, after which compensation details and final acquisition steps will move forward.
