Pune: Satara Police conducted a three-hour-long inquiry at the residence of retired IAS officer Prabhakar Deshmukh in connection with an extortion case linked to Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore.

The investigation stems from the recent arrest of a woman caught by police while allegedly accepting ₹2 crore as part of an extortion demand. The woman was taken into custody after being apprehended in Pune’s Koregaon Park while receiving the money.

Adding to the controversy, journalist Tushar Kharat, known for making frequent allegations against Minister Jaykumar Gore, was also arrested. Multiple charges have been filed against him. In light of these developments, Satara Police visited Deshmukh’s residence to question him regarding the case.

During a Legislative Assembly session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had revealed that Prabhakar Deshmukh had been in contact with the woman who had lodged the complaint against Minister Gore. This disclosure led to intensified police scrutiny of Deshmukh’s involvement.

Following three hours of questioning, the Satara Police departed from Deshmukh’s residence. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are expected to reveal further details as the case progresses.
