Saswad: Excise Officials Seize Illegal Liquor Worth Rs 20 lakh

The action was taken by the Saswad division from October 15 under the jurisdiction of six police stations in Purandar, Bhor, Velha and parts of Haveli.

Bhor: "During the model code of conduct for assembly elections, the Saswad department of the state excise department took action against illegally manufacturing, selling, transporting liquor in the village and registered 35 cases.

We seized liquor worth Rs 20,39,725," said Sambhaji Barge, inspector of Saswad division of the state excise department.

The action was taken by the Saswad division from October 15 under the jurisdiction of six police stations in Purandar, Bhor, Velha and parts of Haveli.

Action has been taken at hotel dhabas selling, selling, transporting, selling illegal toddy and selling illegal country and foreign liquor. During this period, 35 cases have been registered and 35 accused arrested.

Meanwhile, under the guidance of Inspector Sambhaji Barge, secondary inspector Pradeep Mohite, P.J. , Mehta, T. S. Shinde as well as assistant secondary inspectors participated.

Action on these factors
1. Chemical of making liquor 8,300 litres
2. Local liquor 2,678 litres
3. Country liquor 51 litres, foreign 11 litres
4. Beer 14 liters, Toddy 31 liters
5. 6 litres of foreign liquor from abroad
6. 3 four-wheelers and 6 two-wheelers

Monitoring illegal liquor transportation
The Saswad division has set up temporary check posts in the jurisdiction and is keeping a watch on the movement of illicit liquor. From now on, the

sale of illicit liquor and surveillance of traffic places will continue during the code of conduct period.

The Saswad department has appealed to anyone with information about the production and sale of illegal liquor to contact the State Excise, Saswad Department, Pune Division immediately.
