Pune: The Pune police have cracked the gruesome murder case of 59-year-old Satish Wagh, uncovering a chilling conspiracy led by his wife, Mohini Wagh, over an extramarital affair. Investigators revealed that Mohini paid ₹5 lakh to contract killers to eliminate her husband, whom she considered an obstacle in her relationship with a neighbor.
The incident occurred on December 9, when Satish Wagh, a resident of Phursungi, was abducted during his morning walk by four men in an unmarked car.
Within minutes, he was brutally murdered inside the vehicle. The assailants stabbed him, assaulted him with a wooden stick, and dumped his body in the desolate Shindavane Ghat. Locals discovered his body later that evening.
The police initially arrested five suspects, including Akshay Jawalkar, who rented a room in the Wagh household. Jawalkar allegedly facilitated the crime by hiring the killers. However, further investigation revealed that Mohini orchestrated the murder, motivated by her affair with a neighbor.
Police are now probing additional details, including the financial trail of the ₹5 lakh used for the contract and the involvement of other accomplices.
Atish Jadhav Remanded to Police Custody Until December 30
Atish Santosh Jadhav, one of the arrested accused, was remanded to police custody until December 30 by a Pune court. He was arrested from Indiranagar, Kalamb Taluka, Dharashiv district, after being on the run following the murder.
Jadhav confessed during interrogation that he, along with Pawan Sharma, Navanath Gursale, and Vikas Shinde, committed the crime on instructions from Akshay Jawalkar.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Dr. Amrapali Kasture requested Jadhav’s custody for joint interrogation with other suspects, which the court approved.
