Pune: The Ganesh Peth wholesale fish market witnessed a lower-than-usual supply of fish on Sunday, February 2, with stocks arriving from India’s eastern and western coasts.
Due to increased demand for pomfret, rawas, mackerel, prawns, and bombil, the prices of pomfret and rawas have surged, while other seafood prices remain steady compared to last week.
As per traders, approximately 10-15 tons of deep-sea fish, 400-500 kg of estuarine fish, and 1,000-1,200 kg of river fish were supplied to the market. Additionally, around 15-20 tons of rohu, katla, and silan were sourced from Andhra Pradesh.
Despite the fluctuations in fish prices, the prices of mutton, chicken, and both desi and English eggs have remained stable due to a balanced demand and supply scenario.
Key Price Trends in the Wholesale Market:
Pomfret prices range from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per kg, depending on size and quality.
Rawas (Indian Salmon) prices range between ₹700-₹1,000 per kg.
Mackerel and prawns remain steady, with jumbo prawns priced at ₹1,400-₹1,500 per kg.
Lobster continues to command a high price of ₹2,000-₹2,200 per kg.
Mutton is sold at ₹760 per kg, while chicken prices remain at ₹220 per kg, with boneless chicken at ₹320 per kg.

Traders predict that seafood prices may continue to fluctuate in the coming weeks, depending on supply levels and market demand.
