Pune: The State Eligibility Test (SET), a crucial exam for assistant professor positions in universities and senior colleges, has been rescheduled to June 15 to avoid a date clash with the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam.
The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), which conducts the exam, announced this decision through a circular issued by Acting Registrar Dr. Jyoti Bhakare.
Earlier, the SET exam was planned for May 4. However, the same date was also chosen for the MPSC Group 'C' preliminary exam. This overlap posed a dilemma for candidates preparing for both exams, forcing them to potentially miss one. After taking this issue into account, the university decided to postpone the SET exam.
A steering committee, comprising vice-chancellors from SPPU, Mumbai University, and Shivaji University, along with two subject experts, convened to determine a suitable date. After deliberations, June 15 was finalized as the new exam date.
The SET exam will be conducted offline, following the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Details such as the revised schedule, syllabus, and other updates will soon be made available on the official website. Candidates will also be able to begin the application process for the exam within the next ten days.
The rescheduling decision has brought relief to candidates who were concerned about the earlier date clash. "We were confused about which exam to prioritize. With both exams on the same day, we risked missing one of them. This decision has resolved that issue," said an aspirant preparing for both SET and MPSC exams.
