Pune: The metro project connecting Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi has made significant progress. Recently, the double-decker structure at Savitribai Phule Pune University was completed, as was the 17-kilometer viaduct in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

With 68% of the project finished, only 32% of the work remains, expected to be completed within the next nine months, according to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).

Undertaken by the Tata Group under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the metro project is being monitored by PMRDA.

The completion of the double-decker installation in front of Savitribai Phule Pune University marks a significant milestone. The 17-kilometer viaduct installation is also complete, with pier camps set on girders and columns in Wakad and Hinjewadi (Phase 1).

Currently, the column installation for the metro route from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar is finished, and station construction is progressing. The route between Wakad Chowk and Megapolis Circle spans 8.5 kilometers and includes nine stations, with completion expected soon, as per PMRDA officials.

The third metro line from Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi-Man is also underway, covering 23 kilometers at a cost of ₹8,313 crores. The project is expected to be finished within nine months, with metro testing to commence once tracks are laid.

Riyaz Pathan, Chief Engineer of PMRDA, stated that the metro project between Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi is advancing rapidly, with 68% of the work completed and only 32% remaining. The remaining work is anticipated to be finished within the stipulated nine-month period.
