Pune: A school bus driver at Sinhagad City School, Kondhwa, lost his life to electrocution while cleaning a bus on the school premises.

The incident, which occurred on October 18, has led to an FIR being filed against the school director and transport supervisors, alleging negligence in maintaining the school’s transport facilities.

The deceased driver, Santosh Pandurang Malvadkar (47), was a resident of Pisoli, Kondhwa. He worked as a transport driver for Sinhagad City School students.

On the day of the incident, Santosh was washing the bus when he received an electric shock from a faulty wire in the bus compressor. Witnesses reported that the shock rendered him unconscious. The school staff rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Following the incident, an initial report categorized the death as accidental. However, after a detailed complaint filed by Santosh’s wife, Sunita Malvadkar, the police registered a case against the school authorities, including director Dhananjay Tukaram Mahadik and transport supervisors Daulat Dattatray Dhok and Vijay Sampat Kumbhar.

The complaint alleges negligence in maintaining the school buses, which led to the electrocution. It holds the school administration accountable for failing to uphold safety standards, resulting in the fatal accident. Assistant Police Inspector Rajesh Usgaonkar is leading the investigation.
