Pune: In a bid to beautify the city and curb unauthorized hoardings, a cleanliness campaign has been launched in Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency. As part of this initiative, MLA Hemant Rasane has declared Kasba a no-hoarding zone, urging BJP workers and citizens to refrain from putting up illegal billboards.
During the ‘Swachhata Narayan Mahapuja’ event, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol extended his support for the initiative, stating that Pune’s public spaces must remain free of unauthorized advertisements. The event saw the participation of key figures, including Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale, and senior officials from the Solid Waste Management and Police Departments.
Under the Clean, Beautiful, and Developed Kasba Campaign, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) shut down 26 chronic garbage dumping sites in the constituency. A statue of Sant Gadge Maharaj was garlanded at one such site near Ramanbaug School, marking the transformation of former garbage spots into cleaner spaces.
Highlighting the campaign's next steps, MLA Rasane announced that within the next eight days, all unauthorized hoardings in the constituency would be removed. Minister Chandrakant Patil praised the efforts, stating that Rasane’s commitment to cleanliness would ensure the initiative’s success.
Commenting on the recent Swargate incident, Murlidhar Mohol confirmed discussions with the Police Commissioner and assured strict action against the accused. With the PMC’s active participation and political backing, the Kasba Peth cleanliness drive aims to set a precedent for other parts of the city.
