On Tuesday, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das alleged that YouTubers and media personnel unlawfully entered his Delhi home and recorded its interiors, asserting that the incident has posed a significant security threat to his family.
These allegations emerge just days after videos and social media posts scrutinized Das’ lifestyle, including assertions that he pays nearly ₹12 lakh in rent for a luxury home in Greater Kailash-1 (GK-1). The controversy has now sparked a political dispute over the CJP leader’s personal finances and the funding of the movement.
'15–20 People Gathered Outside My Home'
In a post on X, Das stated that approximately 15 to 20 individuals assembled outside his home on Tuesday morning, with some reportedly staying there since the night before. He stated that videos filmed inside the house had incited troublemakers and posed a serious security risk to all the residents.
Das stated that he was presently in Maharashtra for a two-day CJP meeting and noted that his family was still at their residence.
Alleges Illegal Entry, Tags Delhi Police
In a previous SOS message, Das claimed that some YouTubers and media outlets had entered his residence and were airing footage from inside the property.
Describing it as a violation of his privacy, he cautioned that if anti-social elements attacked his home because of the videos, both the individuals who recorded them and what he called their 'troll handlers' must be held responsible.He also tagged the Delhi Police while seeking intervention.
The matter has started drawing political scrutiny, with certain Opposition leaders voicing concern over the reported break-in at Das’ home, while others persist in challenging the assertions related to his lifestyle and financial dealings.
Row Follows Luxury Home Claims
The controversy broke out after a YouTube-based media outlet posted an online walkthrough interview, during which it was alleged that Das was renting a luxury residence in Delhi’s Greater Kailash-1 for about ₹12 lakh per month. The revelation sparked criticism from political rivals and social media users, who questioned the lifestyle of a leader linked to a youth-driven protest movement.The incident has also reignited examination of the CJP’s finances and fundraising activities, with critics calling for increased transparency.
The dispute emerged when Das went to Maharashtra for the CJP’s two-day core committee meeting, where leaders are set to deliberate on the movement’s future course of action, including a planned campaign opposing the Centre’s E20 petrol policy.
