Pune, 14 June 2025: The issue of income tax collection in the 32 villages recently included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits has become a point of contention. MP Supriya Sule has questioned how the state government can justify collecting taxes when basic civic facilities are still lacking in these areas.

Sule raised this concern during her meeting with Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, who has prior experience working in Pune and Delhi. She expressed confidence in him but pressed for urgent resolutions to local issues. MLA Bapusaheb Pathare, NCP leader Sharad Chandra Pawar, and city unit president Prashant Jagtap were also present at the meeting.

Sule also reminded the administration about the pending job appointment for Asavari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh Jagdale who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack, a promise made and accepted by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis but not yet fulfilled.

She highlighted the need for immediate safety improvements at Gangadham Chowk following a recent accident and discussed monsoon readiness, road conditions, and arrangements for the upcoming palakhi processions.

On the issue of municipal elections, Sule stressed that ward formation must be conducted transparently and strictly as per guidelines, without political interference. She demanded that the same fairness should apply across the state.

She also emphasized that for the past 26 years, decisions regarding electoral alliances in municipal polls have been made by local leaders and workers. She credited Sharad Pawar for empowering local leadership by decentralizing decision-making powers.
