Tamhini Ghat Accident: Wedding Journey Turns Tragic, Two Dead as Bus Overturns

The bus, en route from Chakan to Veerwadi (Mahad) for a wedding, met with the accident on the treacherous stretch of Tamhini Ghat, known for its sharp curves.

Pune: A major accident occurred near Waterfall Point in Tamhini Ghat when a passenger bus lost control and overturned. The incident claimed the lives of two individuals and left several others seriously injured. Rescue teams are working to free passengers still trapped inside the vehicle.

The bus, en route from Chakan to Veerwadi (Mahad) for a wedding, met with the accident on the treacherous stretch of Tamhini Ghat, known for its sharp curves and challenging road conditions.

Swift Rescue Operation

Mangaon Police Inspector Nivrutti Borade and his team reached the site promptly after being informed about the accident. Police, rescue teams, and medical personnel collaborated to initiate a quick response. An ambulance from POSCO Company also arrived to assist with the evacuation of the injured.

Medical Assistance

The injured passengers have been shifted to the Sub-District Hospital in Mangaon for treatment. Efforts are underway to ensure they receive timely medical care.

Investigation Underway

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Tamhini Ghat’s dangerous curves and poor road conditions, exacerbated during the monsoon, are known to contribute to accidents in the area. Authorities have assured a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause and implement necessary safety measures.
