Pune: Students from the Third Year Computer Engineering Department of G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management (GHRCEM) clinched the first prize at the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024. Their team, "Tech Simp-2," won accolades for their innovative solution to the challenge, “Fake Social Media Account Detection.”
The team, comprising Satyam Yadav (Team Leader), Puru Sing, Rishabh Kukdeja, Pratiksha Pandey, Jyoti Pandey, and Dhruv Pal, received a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, along with medals and certificates. The achievement was made possible with the mentorship of Dr. Siddhasen R. Patil and Prof. Apurva Pilay, who provided constant guidance and support.
Dr. Simran Khiani, Head of the Computer Engineering Department, and Dr. Swapnil Mahajan, Head of the Innovation and Incubation Center, also played a significant role in supporting the team’s journey.
Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, Campus Director, GHRCEM Pune, lauded the students’ efforts and emphasized the importance of hackathons as a platform for innovation.
“Hackathons inspire the brightest minds to develop real-world solutions. Our focus remains on inclusive development to ensure that innovation benefits all sections of society,” he said. Dr. Kharadkar encouraged students to actively participate in similar competitions to enhance their creativity and technical prowess.
Chairman of Raisoni Education, Sunil Raisoni, and Executive Director, Shreysh Raisoni, congratulated Team Tech Simp-2 for their exemplary achievement, calling it an inspiration for future innovators.
