Pune: A bizarre theft incident unfolded in Bhugaon’s Matalwadi area as petty thieves, unable to locate significant cash or valuables, chose to feast on chicken gravy and lollipops instead. The thieves targeted around 9–10 shops, breaking their shutters to gain entry. The incident, which occurred two days ago, has been captured on CCTV cameras but remains unreported to the police.

Among the affected establishments were Nikhara Shahi Biryani, Tushar Dairy, Amarale Misal, and others. At Nikhara Shahi Biryani, the culprits broke in, searched the counter drawer, and upon finding only ₹30, proceeded to the kitchen. There, they discovered a pot of chicken gravy, heated it on the gas stove, and ate their fill.

The spree didn’t stop there. At Tushar Dairy, they stole ₹4,500 in cash and a box of Cadbury chocolates, which they consumed on the spot. Amarale Misal saw a loss of ₹5,000 in cash, and the thieves also helped themselves to ice cream cones before fleeing.

CCTV footage from the shops shows the thieves indulging in food and rummaging through cash drawers. While the monetary losses were minimal, the damaged shutters have left shop owners burdened with costly repairs.

Despite the incident garnering significant attention on social media, no formal complaints have been lodged with the Paud Police. The authorities confirmed they are aware of the situation but cannot take action until an official complaint is filed. The peculiar incident has sparked widespread discussion in the Mulshi area, with many amused by the thieves' unconventional actions.
