Tragic Collision Near Shirur: Three Dead, One Injured in Car-Container Crash

The container driver fled the scene and is currently absconding. A case has been registered based on a complaint by Ravindra Sonawane.

Pune:  A fatal accident on the Nhavare-Talegaon road in Shirur Taluka led to the tragic deaths of three people, including a father and daughter, while one woman was critically injured. The accident occurred on Sunday (March 23) night around 8:30 PM when a speeding container collided head-on with a car carrying four passengers.

The deceased have been identified as Kailas Krishna Gajakwad (49), Gauri Kailas Gajakwad (20), and Ganesh Mahadev Nirlekar (25). All three succumbed to their injuries at the accident site. The sole survivor, Durga Kailas Gajakwad (48), sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment.

According to police reports, Kailas Krishna Gajakwad was traveling with his wife, daughter, and brother-in-law from Wagholi to Nhavare in a private car. As they approached Sandeep Mahadev Sarke’s house on the Talegaon-Nhavare road, a container traveling from Nhavare towards Talegaon crashed into their vehicle with great force.

The violent impact resulted in instant fatalities, while Durga Kailas Gajakwad suffered critical injuries. Following the collision, the container driver fled the scene and is currently absconding.

A case has been registered based on a complaint by Ravindra Mahadev Sonawane (38), a resident of Kutewasti, Nhavare. Under the supervision of Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale, Constable Bhote has initiated an investigation, and police teams are actively searching for the fugitive container driver.
