Pune: Vegetable prices fluctuated significantly at Pune’s Gultekdi Market Yard this week due to reduced supply and high demand. While prices of vegetables such as cluster beans, ladyfinger, and cucumber increased, those of tomatoes, cauliflower, and onions dropped owing to higher arrivals.

Key Arrivals:

The market received about 90 trucks of vegetables on Sunday, including supplies from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Major contributions included 18-20 trucks of peas from Madhya Pradesh, 9-10 trucks of carrots from Rajasthan, and 11,000-12,000 crates of tomatoes from local regions.

Wholesale Prices of Key Vegetables (per 10 kg):

Cluster Beans: ₹600-800

Ladyfinger: ₹400-600

Onions: ₹250-330

Tomatoes: ₹100-150

Cauliflower: ₹80-120

Drumsticks: ₹1300-1700

Leafy Vegetables:

The wholesale market recorded arrivals of 1.5 lakh bundles of coriander and 70,000 bundles of fenugreek. Coriander and fenugreek prices dipped slightly by ₹2-3 per bundle, while other leafy vegetable prices, including spinach and mint, remained steady.

Fruit Market Update:

Prices of pomegranates, sweet limes, and papayas declined slightly, while the price of Indian jujube (bor) increased by 5-10%. The market also received 40 tons of sweet limes and 70 tons of watermelons.

Flower Market Trends:

The ongoing wedding season has driven demand for ornamental flowers, but the prices of loose flowers have softened slightly. Popular varieties like marigolds, roses, and orchids saw stable demand.
